Jerky Live TV on PVR 150

I've been searching these forums and tried a few things, but still have the problem.

My live TV is jerky. I have a AMD 2.8 cpu with 512 ram, PNY 6200 video card with 128 (I think) memory, and a PVR 150 card getting a signal from a DirecTv STB. I have the newest nVidia drivers and I am using nVidia PureVideo. I've tried the VMR 9, VMR 9 custom, Overlay - none of these settings seem to make a difference.

The system is running between 20 and 25% cpu usage while watching live TV.

I'm trying to figure out what to try next.

You sure PureVideo is your only MPEG decoder? That 25% CPU sounds like a lot; maybe the decoder is not offloading anything to your GPU?

Do you know if GB-PVR is set to use preview mode or not?

Try downloading GSpot and run it on an MPEG file. Among many mysterious things, it will tell you what "graph" (chain of decoders, demuxers, filters, etc.) that DirectShow will use to play your file.

I had Live TV pause every 5 seconds or so. That went away after I removed all codecs and reinstalled PureVideo.

From the forums, I thought that the quartz.dll problem was only happening on ATI cards, not nVidia cards???

What version of the quartz.dll should I have/get and where?

No - I'm fairly sure it can affect any card.

High screen resolutions on the 6200 video card can also cause jerky video.

Try 720x480 NTSC or 720x576 PAL

I'm running it at 1080i, I tried a DVD, and didn't notice a problem with jerkyness. I'll try the quartz thing.

If your outputting to a tv through your video card I found that taking any deinterlacing off does the trick because the tv does it for you. I use theoverlay with no deinterlacing and it works good. Not as smooth as a recorded video, but really well.
