PVR-150 IR Blaster - extend it?

Have any of you had success with extending the length of the IR Blaster for these cards? I used to have my cable box near my computer, but now its a lot further away. If I can cut the line and extend it, that would be the easiest fix for me.

Nobody? Is this a stupid question? I don't want to slice this cord to have it be unusable if I do.
