1. MVP MediaServers reach high mem usage as shown in attached photo, at this high mem usage, mvp normally does not connect. I have to terminate the task to reset and mvp can connect again. Is this high mem usage normal, I never had this high a usage rate when I was still using 96.13, it was normally at the range of 60-80M mem usage.

2. Why is the mediamvp server window showing up on the desktop eventhough the task was owned by system. When I reset it disappears. I have set 3 servers to autostart, and sometimes only 1 will appear on the desktop, even if there are 3 processes running.
Win XP Pro SP 2
ASUS P5k-PRO Dual Core 3.0 GHZ with 4GB RAM
1 Seagate 150 GB SATA HD
1 Seagate 1TB SATA HD
1 Seagate 750 GB SATA HD
1 Hauppauge PVR500MCE
2 MVP (2 Wired / 1 Wireless via 2 Linksys WRT54G routers)
1 dead MVP (searching for replacement)

This memory usage could be normal. Its on the high side, but not abnormally high. It depends on a few things - skin you're using, number of channels and days of listings, plugins installed.

Its some annoying quirk of the windows desktop. The MVP processes are started with hidden windows, but if they manage to start before the desktop, then the desktop forces them to show in this funny minimised state. If you reset that MVP, it again starts as a hidden window, but windows desktop is already running so this weird behaviour does not occur.

In the case where only one window is visible, not all three, this means only the first instance had started by the time the Windows desktop started and cause this behaviour described above.

You can always go into the service startup and remove the 'allow service to interact with desktop' check mark.

There may also be some way to tell windows to not start a service until after the desktop has loaded, but I dont know how you'd go about this.

I am not a programmer, but I know you can set dependencies that certain services must be started prior to starting the service. But perhaps windows desktop is not a service?

add a batch to run at startup that pauses a small time [like 10 secs]then runs the restart.bat from gbpvr dir...that will restart the service and reset the mvp servers..and probably don't need pause as startup doesn't run till after desktop is loaded..Smile
