Hey all,

Still trying to figure out all this grand video stuff but I love it!

Fire up GB-PVR and it says can't do - VMR9 not supported...so I go into setup and switch to Overlay and now it works but with no OSD...

Do I only get OSD with VMR9?

Is VMR9-compatibility a function of the graphics card? I'm just using the GForce chipset that came on the mobo, but I really want OSD ... do I need to get a video card that supported VMR9?

thanks for you help!

Which decoder are you using? Certain decoders won't work with vmr9 until you apply a registry patch. I can't remember from the top of the head if it is the cyberlink or the Intervideo one....

you should not have ffdshow installed unless you know what you're doing. That can, and probably will, create more hassle than fun for you, especially if you have a low-end machine. It can be quite tricky to have it installed and not used (it takes over all sort of things), and uses *a lot* of horsepower. I'd uninstall it if I were you until you get things sorted out and until you know you need it Smile

EDIT: Sorry, I mixed part of this answer up with another user's question. I deleted that part now Smile

By the way, your intervideo decoder should be fine, it's the cyberlink one that has the vmr issue.

It could be the graphics card. What graphics card do you have? My previous computer's built-in graphics chip did not support vmr9.

im using the on-board geforce graphics chipset....

something weird... i had to replace the mobo (i broke a usb connector) and I got the new mobo today and VMR9 didnt work, yet on the old mobo I had it set to VMR9 and it did work!

Same model mobo but I wonder if they switched graphics chips in one of their versions???

seems i need to just buy a graphics card that suports VMR9 (btw what the heck is VMR9 -- is that directshow?)

Look at "Video Renderer vs. VMR7 vs. VMR9" here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Mixing_Renderer

You want to try installing DirectX9.

The video card drivers can also affect whether VMR9 is available, so try the latest version.
