I have a Hauphage pvr 150 and a pvr 500 (dual analog version of the 150).

ONE of these cards is producing really staticy output but I don't know which.

How can I watch a channel on a particular tuner and work out which one it is that is giving me the problem? Is there a database entry which identifies the tuner card that was used to record a program? Or is there a utility I can use that shows the stations as tuned in by GBPVR?

When watching live tv, the tuners are used top down from your list of capture cards (in the config app), and when recording, bottom up order is used (first available capture card that has requested channel is used).

Hi,

Not sure if I'm being helpful, but, ... I have a Nova-T and a PVR250. Some of the channels are the same on both tuners. I use WebEPG to grab the channel info for the analogue channels. In WebEPG, you can give the channels a name. I then import the xml file into GBPVR and assign the corresponding "cable numbers". Maybe you could try this in your setup and name the channels "ChannelName_pvr150", "ChannelName_500_Tuner1", etc. i.e. create three xml files with the channel lists and different channel names and point the config to each of the three files.

Might be worth testing -- maybe some of the other forum members can tell you if it would work BEFORE you screw up your setup.

I think it's the other way around (live tv = bottom->up, recording->top->down)
but I could be wrong (it's happened before Wink)

oh, so i have to be recording 2 shows and then check the third.. then check the second by looking at the recording content and then check the first by looking at the recorded content again... isn't there a tool or utility that can let me see what a particular tuner is "seeing" ? 3rd party even?

I have the same set-up...a 500 and a 150. Each of the capture sources (tuners) has a unique name as assigned in config. If you start three recordings, each on a different channel, the recording status app (the icon in the 'tray') will tell you which capture source is recording which show. If you watch each of them while recording you'll be able to see which tuner is giving the bad picture. Or watch them after they're recorded but then you'll have to remember which tuner went with which show.

It's probably one of the tuners in the 500. That seems to be a common issue with some of the 500's lately (including mine). There has been some discussion about it in the Hardware forum.

Yeah that's my suspicion - the one makred "pvr 500 with fm" was my best guess. which kind of sucks if it is giving bad data, because it means half the card is useful.

Maybe not. Check out this thread:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=21537

and look thru the snapstream link it refers to. Also, it might be worthwhile to try the drivers he mentions in the last post. You can get them from shspvr.

Strange as it seems, removing the covers from the tuners made a huge difference for me. Using those drivers also helped. Both tuners on the 500 seem to be working fine for me now.

Why not just temporarily disable the relevant channel in the other cards - this would force it to use the card you are investigating
