Dear sirs,
I installed a tv tuner 150mce with beyondtv, this is one of there bundles.Their software is very bad,as it is set to timeshift always,no way to shut it off.So I found out about GB-PVR and downloaded it,and took me three trys to make it load, but it works fine now.I notice that I have to keep beyondtv installed to get a picture on tv,I think gbpvr is using beyonds software encoder.I can not make the FM plugin work,if I go to conf>plugins it is checked there and I did the lame.ax thing ,no fm listing in the menu.It works in beyond tv,but as I said there software records this too, very dumb.I hope this is not too confusing and any help would be most welcome,Dennis

I am not familiar with beyondtv but if you are using a hauppauge 150mce it has a hardware encoder not software. Is it possible that when you install beyondtv you are also installing codecs to play the mpeg back and are removing them when you uninstall it.

dark_half,
Thanks for the reply. The encoder I was talking about was in gdpvr-conf playback>Hdw decoder device[none-use software decoder] the rest of the settings here are as follows VMDR9 Software MPEG-2 Playback all set to default. This is only way I get a TV picture.I don't mind using this way,but BeyondTV4 takes up 126MB and GPPVR about 29MB.This Beyond is by http://www.snapstream.com.I wish I knew where the codecs were on the cd,I would use only them. Now the fmradio plugin,if I go to conf and select plugins and highlight fmradio and it is checked, the settings box is grayed out.And if you want I will send you a copy of Beyond, you would see why I don't like it.probably the same reason I don't have Tivo,Thanks for any help,Dennis

You should be able add channels in the GB-PVR FM Radio screen. You dont need to do it in the config app.

sub and others,
well with your help I figured it out.I was confused ,as I had all the plugins listed in conf but not GBPVR main screen.I only had 7 choices there,so I went to conf and moved the net radio and fm radio up so they were one of my seven choices and bingo there they are on the main screen and now I can listen to fm and net radio.sub saying to do the settings in main screen and reading some place on the forum here to move the plugin you want up in the list in conf, got me going in the right direction.Sub one question, how do I save more than one fm station,as I say to keep one when it scans and select scan again and gets to another station and I select save it replaces the one I saved before. Will it only save one station or am I not doing it right.Sub I would like to take this opportunity to say you have a very well thought out piece of software, maybe you could redo BeyondTV4.I have to find out why I have to keep it loaded on my computer to get a tv picture,if I remove it all I get is the audio .Dark_half said it is the codecs that it loads.Sub if you have a suggestion on this let me know.I could ship you a copy of the BeyondTV4 disc I have for you to take a look at.I am glad I bought the bundle not just their software. Thanks again to you and others,Dennis

It sounds like you're not giving it a unique name. If you save each one with the same channel name, then it'll just overwrite the last one you saved.

Thanks but I'm not interested in BeyondTV.

You do need to have an MPEG2 decoder installed on your machine to use GB-PVR. I cant supply one since I'd be legally required to pay licensing fees, and I obviously cant do that with free software. You can use the one installed with BeyondTV, or DVD software like PowerDVD or WinDVD, or download one of the free ones of the net.

Sub,thanks for the info
I went through the fm radio scan and I still see no way to assign names to the stations so I can save more than one, there is no info in the wiki either. Also when I listen to web radio it saves a mp3 files ,anyway to stop that. Also where would I look for the MPEG2 decoder that BYTV4 installed,I am using windows XP Pro,it is probably in system32,but what is it called. And if I find it ,should I save it ,uninstall BYTV,and put it back where it was and re register it.If I am totally off base let me know,Thanks Dennis

You should just be able to select the name field then type in the name. If the scan does work for you, try using the 'add' button to manually add the station.

If you set <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForNetRadio>true</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForNetRadio> in config.xml then it wont be saved to disk.

sub,
That worked like a charm, modified the conf.xml and no more saving the net radio mp3 files.
I finally figured out how to add the fm stations you click add and use the number keys to put in a freq and than the up/down keys to select the unknown and backspace than type in the name.I was trying to use the mouse to do this before.I thank you for all the help on this,Dennis
