0.98.13 - GB-PVR crashes on exit, web interface is sluggish, page cannot be displayed

Wrt the closing down error, I really don't know if it still applies: I remember having an error closing down gbpvr, that had to do with having set the "direct access to hauppauge remote" in gbpvr-config-misc.

Looks like you went through all the steps that I can think of.

When you have EWA up and it is taking forever to respond what shows in taskmanger as a resource hog?

First couple of seconds, the GBPVR Recording Service, then the remaining time, the browser I'm using.

Are you using Access or SQLite database for your GBPVR data store?

It's stored in an Access .mdb file. I'm not aware that I made a conscious choice about this, but perhaps the installer asks about this?

When you deleted everything and reinstalled did you copy back old config file or database or did you just uninstall and the reinstall fresh....meaining you had to readd your capture cards and EPG settings?

Yep, as I wrote originally, the only 2 files that "survive" from my original installation, are confix.xml and gbpvr.mdb.

What browser(s) are you using?

FireFox 1.5.0.8 and Internet Explorer 6.0

Are you running the gbpvrecording service under the local system account or a user account? If under the local system account have you tried changing it to a local user account with Admin rights?

Not until you asked, but I've changed it from local system to a local admin account now - no change.

To sum it up, I think I can live with everything else except that I can't click any links (except the currently shown programs in the guide) without getting a "Page cannot be displayed" error. I need the web interface to schedule recordings and check the TV guide. If someone can tell me how to remove EWA so I can use just the original webinterface, I'll be happy to use that - as long as it works.

Ewa is the web interface for GBPVR....currently if you install GBPVR 98.13 in includes build 48 of EWA.

If I were you this is what I would do.....

Run the GBPVR Uninstall.
The check on your c:\ drive and delete (if it still exists) the c:\program files\devnz directory and all subdirectories.
Reboot the PC.
Install GBPVR 98.13
Run c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\chagedatabse.exe (this will set you up for SQLite).
Configure GBPVR's tunners and EPG.
Enable the Web Admin in Config.

See what happens.
