Thanks for adding the new show padding feature to v.54 - nice!

Couple questions:

- What's the difference between "Extend End Time Minutes" and "Pad End Time Minutes?"

- Is there a way to specify padding for Season recordings, or does this need to be done on an individual basis afterwards?

For example, I want to record my local news every night from 11:00pm to 11:30pm, but pad the end time for 5 minutes. When adding this as a season recording I see no option for padding. After adding this recording it seems I have to go back into Manage Recordings, select each individual recording and change the pad end time. Is this correct? If so, maybe a feature request for adding padding parameters for season recordings?

Thanks!

Pad time lets you enter number of minutes to add to the end of the recording.

Extend End time actually changes the end time.

So....

If you enter 10 in pad the end time will alwasy show the time the show ended.

If you enter 10 in extend end time you will actually see the end time of the show changed to that specific time.

The answer is yes it can be done....I just need to update the record dialog to allow the entry of pre and post padding.....

Thanks for the followups. I'm amazed at the support you provide for a free product like this and how quickly you respond to requests.

On a side note, do you have a formal procedure for submitting/sharing skins for EWA? I'm currently working on one....

Cheers,

Dean

Adding skins is easy....they just get plopped into the skin directory and should show up automatically....the tricky part is when you add a new font or button or anything you have to change all the skin css files.

I can take a look at it and see if it can be included with a regular distribution....to do so it will need to have all the attributes that are in the other skins and be configured the same way.....that way if there is a skin change I don't need to analyze each skin independently.....I simply make the same change in each skin in the same spot.

If it is something off the wall then perhaps we could add a EWA Skin spot on the wiki and let developers maintain their own....kind of what sub does with the skins for GBPVR.

Yeah - what sub does with the GB-PVR skins might be useful if there is enough content.

It's no problem creating the code, etc (I used to design sites for a living), just didn't know if you preferred to moderate the process before I would attempt to post/submit anything. I'll forward it your way when it is complete.

The way you've "modularized" the process by specifying an external style sheet makes it reasonably simple, which is nice.

Again, thanks!

As a follow-up....this change make more time than anticipated....sub needs to change the API to be able to accept the pre/post padding parameters when creating a recording.....

UJB,

2Q's on an old thread ....

1. Was this feature for season pad added?
2. Does pad and extend work on back to back recordings (i.e. force these) or is it still governed by GBPVR....?

Yes....for exisiting season recordings that you did not set padding on you can bring up the Season entry in Manage Recordings tab and then you can update the quality and pre/post padding.

These changes will effect all future recordings. If you have the GBPVR option set to reload EPG then already scheduled recordings will get updated with the new settings.

k.

Not really sure what you mean here......when the padding gets updated GBPVR will take care of the re-scheduling work......EWA just updates the padding amount on the schedule entry and GBPVR does the actual re-scheduling with the new padding amounts.

Oh that's excellent. Cheers.

I guess I was referring to sub's answer here, but if you say GBPVR takes care of it, then the answer is the same, i.e. no "forced" extension to show 1 ?

I would go with what sub says.....if you have back to back recordings then the post padding for the first show is ignored and the pre-padding for the second show is ignored.
