Hi,

I'm coming over from BTV and there is a lot to like here, and I appreciate all the effort to make NPVR and NEWA a great product.

I was wondering though if the actual recording time or duration could be added somewhere to the listing for each show? I find that info very helpful with BTV as it lets me instantly tell if there was a problem with the recording, and I can reschedule it.

Also, BTV's web admin takes a more minimalistic approach to listing the recordings, just showing some basic info as shown in the picture, and you have to click the Options button to see more. By doing this you can see a lot more recordings on the screen at one time.

Not trying to be rude, callous, or anything like that, but the current table view has a lot of empty space per listing, so maybe this could be reduced down some? For example, just use one row for the 4 blue streaming buttons instead of 2 x 2 that takes up 2 rows. Just a suggestion that I'm sure you didn't want to hear. Smile

Thanks!

If there was an issue with the recording the event should show up flagged as failed. There is a failure reason available that I have yet to work into the NEWA display.....but will be added into the detail display for the event. The color of the event when looking on manage recordings should be red.

You have control of what gets displayed on the guide.... in the Config tab you can turn on/off various options as shown below. There is also a config setting (config-web.xml in the npvr data directory) that allows you to set how wide the guide lines appear.

In Config:
<guideHeigth>0</guideHeigth>

Looking at your screen shot try a setting of 50 or 75.....

No offense at all.... try the above. I will say.....the table based screens are falling behind the CSS based screens. When I have time I try to keep them in sync but my focus has been on the CSS based screens or the last couple of years.

I am also coming from BTV and have a similar wishlist.

I would prefer a much more compact presentation on the Manage Recordings screen.

Zogg's screen shot up there isn't the guide, it's the equivalent of the "Manage Recordings" screen.

For comparison, here's a screen shot of 3 entries in my NEWA manage recordings page to show how much empty space there is compared to Zoggs screen shot of 3 entries... I haven't figured out yet if I can configure this to be more efficient.

I also would prefer Manage Recordings to be split into 3 tabs. Recurring, Available and Pending. I've only been using NPVR for a week and it's already getting a little unwieldy with all 3 on one page, particularly with how much vertical space each listing takes up. I have to do a *lot* of scrolling to find what I want to work on.

While I'm throwing stuff out there, I'd also love to have a summary screen that showed the most recent recordings, upcoming Pending recordings and any conflicts I needed to resolve and how much room is left on the PVRs hard drive. On BTV, I had a page like this this as my home page and could see at a quick glance if anything bad happened the previous night and if I needed to resolve any conflicts.

I also want to make it clear that this is the best PVR out there right now in my opinion and I appreciate all of the work that has gone into it.

Welcome..... to NPVR

Do you have CSS coding skills? You could work on the common_manage_and_search.css file in the css folder within the selected theme folder under themes2..... that file contains the display info for the table views in manage and search........

Have you used the option in the upper right hand corner to hide show items in the grid (i.e. just show pending, or in-progress, etc)?

See above....you can simply filter to type you are looking for and sort in order.... try the tree view with the dual sort option.....sort by status and then by title.

This info is on the statistics tab....

I would have to agree on that.... sub has done a hell of a good job..... and the support of all the contributors that help with plugins, themes, utilities and extend

All of the functionality and info is there, it just takes more clicks than I am used to. Old dog, new tricks Smile

I have never played with CSS, I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out. Do people share .css files here?
