I just upgraded my 160gb drive to a 300gb. For some reason GBPVR says I have no recordings. Sad The only thing that changed was the drive letter. I changed the drive letter in the config program to match the new drive letter. That didn't give me the recordings back. I changed the drive letter for the drive to what the old drive had and the recordings are still gone. Mind you the actual files are intact! What do I need to do to fix the problem. GBPVR is installed on the c: drive and the tv shows on the second drive I just upgraded

What went wrong - The database only knows the original path and this is not updated if you change the directories in the confix.exe.

Do you have a backup of your old GBPVR directory? If you can run that config.exe you may be able to export the recordings out of your database as an xml. This can be edited as required (new drive letter) and reimported into your new database.

Otherwise you can used the mpeg import tool on the wiki to search for recordings and build a new database.

gbpvr checks to see if it can see the recording - if it can;t, the recording is deleted from the database. There is a config parameter to enable/disable this behaviour.

your best bet is to locate the export-recordings.xml file and import this file using the import button in the config.exe.

I didn't backup the database because I wasn't touching that drive. Is there a field in one of the database tables that I can mod to bring everything back? As far as exporting and importing am xml file, would that give me all the tv show discriptions back too?

If you check soon enough, then in your progam files, devnz, gbpvr directory should be a file called "recording-dump.xml" this is generated each day when your EPG is automatically updated. This keeps all the program details and descriptions. Make a copy before messing with it.
If your data drive letter has changed then you need to edit this file and change the drive letters and then reimport the file using the config.exe program and select the "plugins" tab and click 'import recordings' - point to your edited xml file.

Martin

edit: - sorry, it looks like I was replying as you sussed it out.
