...and what would that "original problem" be exactly? I read so much stuff each day that I dont remember, and I'm not going back and reading five pages of this thread.

I understand. The original problem was in the first post and the solution in the first 7 posts. However I found the solution for 1.08....

1. Open C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin2\blue\OSD\skin.xml with notepad
2. Change <Placement name="SRTSubtites" loc="0,75"/> to <Placement name="SRTSubtites" loc="20,75"/> or any horizontal starting point preferred.
3. Change <CompositeImage name="SRTSubtites" size="90,20">
<DrawTextWithOutline text="@line1" loc="0,0" size="100,33" outlineWidth="2" borderColor="Black" textStyle="OsdTextVeryLargeStyle" align="Center" valign="Center"/>
<DrawTextWithOutline text="@line2" loc="0,33" size="100,33" outlineWidth="2" borderColor="Black" textStyle="OsdTextVeryLargeStyle" align="Center" valign="Center"/>
<DrawTextWithOutline text="@line3" loc="0,66" size="100,33" outlineWidth="2" borderColor="Black" textStyle="OsdTextVeryLargeStyle" align="Center" valign="Center"/>
</CompositeImage>

to align="Left"
4. Save skin.xml
5. Restart config
6. Restart PVRX2
7. Voila, closed caption roll-up to srt by mpg2srt will now be normal.

Ah, I see. Its not really a case of the problem being back though. I intend things to be centered by default, since this is the way SRT subtitles are usually shown. This wanting them shown left aligned is only because you're trying to make them look more line the US/Canada CC captions.

Sorry, you'll just have to remember to edit this file each release if you prefer them to be left justified.

Actually I was trying to make them look centered and normal. They look abnormal when they are srt subtitles with roll-up US/Canada CC captions as the source and mpg2srt as the program to convert from one to the other. Specifically what happens is: As the letters are painted on the screen they start dead center but then as the letters form words and sentences the letters move to the left so the words and sentences are dead center. Normally Pop-on US/Canada CC captions and DVD subtitles will show the whole sentence at a time and the whole sentence will be dead center. I will post an example of these once I get home so you can see what is going on.

I don't mind having to edit that file each release. Just that this release was very different from previous releases.

No, they are already centered. You changed them to left aligned, and made the field smaller and moved it so it wasnt hard against the left of the screen. Thats different from centered. (sorry, pedantic I know... )

I can understand how helps for this roll-up caption though. (SRT subtitles would not normally contain subtitles that are shown in that way)

Right, but now the sentence "looks" centered and normal once it written out.

Can you post a screenshot showing subtitles on the screen? I'm starting to think maybe we're talking about different things.

I wasn't ignoring you sub, I just never got an email notification. I will do this asap. I am not sure when that will be though. I'm not at home at the moment. It's a slow period at work.
