Playing Recordings on Vista Laptop

I got a new laptop that has Vista installed. When I play recordings from GBPVR, the video does not play smoothly. When I play it on my XP desktop, they play fine. I have tried playing them in GBPVR, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, etc., and they all play the same. I can watch DVD's and other mpg files fine, but my recordings do not play well. The sound is fine, but the video is terrible.

Any ideas?

I think I solved my own problem. I installed a new mpeg codec. I also changed some of the power settings that were running my video card at a lower performance level when on battery. Video is playing much better now.
