I think the web service that the stock plugin connects to is not always up these days. Hanging when the service isn't available is very bad behavior however.

I shouldnt say it hanged... I should restate myself and say, I could move the mouse around, but if I tried to select main menu, or exit/escape on my remote, it wouldnt let go of me!!! lol

I tried unplugging the ethernet cable to disable internet access and went into the stocks plugin and observed the exact behavior you described. It was waiting forever for the results of each stock even after it got a failure. I just uploaded a new version that stops waiting for a stock after a stock generates a failure. With this version, after clearing the popup error(s), I was then able to return to the main menu.
Note that the plugin is so small, I had to clear my browser cache otherwise I was not downloading the newest version from the wiki. (GBPVRStocks.dll version is 1.0.3381.37948, 4/4/2009) Might be a good idea to use this version before the next time the web service is down.

Ok, so far so good, actually seems to work a slight bit faster than in the past. I will give it a workout and report back if there are any problems.

The speed is mostly dependent on the web service's response time. You can test it with a web browser here by clicking on Invoke although the output is not all that human readable. When you see it's not working in gbpvr, you can check if it's because the web service is down from your web browser.
