Ok sorry i quoted you before err as you were editing that post so i didn't see that last bit when i replyed. But it might still be something that could be done by someone else as a plugin that way you don't need to worry about the headaches if it doesn't work right.

Sorry if im being difficult but this feature is exactly what i have been jonesing for these past several years. I personally could give a #@$% about picture viewing and audio playback and all that other stuff(ill never use any of it anyway) but iv'e been quiet and tried to be patient with frys and others on this but im really very tired of all the waiting and that.

Sorry not your fault but it's just i want it sometime this millenium or before i die of old age if only somebody would make it happen somehow. Ok somebody other than Tivo alright.

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] (Guest @ Nov. 21 2004,12:37)]Can't you do it the same way that VLC Videolan Player did it or rather use a simular method?
I to have used videolan and their client has the best ff I've seen on PC software yet. One problem is it pegs my cpu at 100% when ff really fast. I too would like to see incremental(2x 4x 8x) ff in GBpvr since the current method is kind off slow at I think 2x. Maybe sub can do like in CTpvr where it kind of steps faster more than plays back faster. But it does have 2 different speeds in this ff step feature which makes it very useful to me.

Of course, there always is the method of pressing the 'skip' button on the remote to skip ahead a user configurable number of seconds (i.e. 60). So one could always use a combination of ffwd and skip to get to the desired location within a recording.

I find it better to see where I'm going while advancing. This way I don't get ahead of myself and see something out of sequence. Also when you over shoot where you want to be I would like to rew to the point I want to start at. Not skip ending up too far forward only to wait.

I agree not to disperage thoughs who like the skip feature but it's always seemed kinda jank way to do it to me. Or rather a patchwork or uhm whats the word im looking for here..... Nope im drawing a blank.

As the other guy said " It's better to see where your going while fast forwarding" skipping ahead just seems inacurate. Hate to say it but tivo acctually did ff right but i still don't like tivo i have to say though thats one thing i do really like.

Somebody somewhere really needs to make a feature like this for some htpc software. I know Creative did it on their DVCR ( I have one don't use it anymore) but that was one of the few things they acctually did right on that product. Or rather wern't scared into messing up on with it. And it worked almost perfectly on the DVCR. Tivo is better in that it jumps back a second or two when you hit play again.

But the DVCR went the way of the dodo because of the other things that creative allowed the motion picture industry and hollywood to scare them out of doing in order to make the product only to turn and walk away from it later. Pitty it could have been really great and...... Sorry wasn't trying to rant on a soapbox so i'll stop.
