This is in no way connected to GBPVR but thought someone here may have a solution....

I'm looking to setup a forum similar to this one to use for my team at work.

I have been totaly unsuccessful trying to install any server side software on my godaddy account and don't have the time at present to figure it out. So I'm looking for something web based. Preferably a paid (but cheap) service so I do not have to have advertising on my forum.

Any Ideas?

PHPBB wont work? I remember setting it up at work once, but I forget what I had to install to get it to work. I think just an SQL database and PHP.

In the past I have tried to get java applets and typepad to work on my godaddy account and couldn't get it done. When searching google for help I found a bunch of other people having similar problems with godaddy.

It seems like there should be a nice web 2.0 site somewhere that would let you set this up through a browser but I have not been able to find a decent one.

I have a team of 10 people spread throughout the US working on my project. Almost all comunication is via cell phone. Like Sub, I'm tired of being asked the same simple questions over and over. It would be great if these answers lived forever on the forum and could be searched.

Also, since I'm the only person in my small company that has any computer skills beyond cut and paste, this would be a major feather in my cap with my boss.

My experience a year or two ago with GoDaddy was that with a basic hosting account they were extremely restrictive with the type of code you could run from your website. Things like PERL scripts, for instance, were verboten.

I saw many similar comments around the net. On the other hand my webspace has had 100% uptime in the 2 years I have been with them so maybe this is a good policy.

In the end I was able to get "Simple Machines Forum" software installed and running on my godaddy acount.
