is the same as image but has the colour buttons the bottom BUT these are not coloured - just grey in colour as the others and labelled red/blue/green/yellow.

when i get home, i'll take a pic.

is typical that i get the one no-one has ever seen or heard of and nothing works for it!!!!! Smile

Actually, you do have one that many of us has seen. It's not the Microsoft MCE remote, it's the Hauppauge MCE remote...

Even though I ended up taking it back and getting a OEM PVR 150 and the separate MS MCE remote and beanbag, I know that your device wil work, assuming that the beanbag isn't as faulty as mine was...

When you install the Beanbag, windows installs the ehome. You have to update it with the alteranate driver. However if you simply point to the folder with the alt driver, it's possible your windows will think "hmmm, not signed driver eh, well I won't show the user this one..."

What you do is, during update, select 'Install from alt location' and then next, then select "Don't search...", then next uncheck show compatible hardware and click 'Have Disk'. Find your driver, and you'll see the MCE driver in list...

aha, thanks. it does look the most like the hauppage one but with extra buttons...

i tried following steps to install driver : don't search, i will choose the driver to install and pointed wizard to the mceir.inf file (and the dir holds the .sys, .dll and mceirplay/rec exe's).

still same thing saying location doesn't contain info about your hardware...

maybe i buy a second pvr 150 mce kit and see if i can get a usable remote...

It's not the remote you're installing, it's the beanbag. (Receiver/Transmitter)
You're probably not having trouble with the beanbag, but the Operating system. Are you using Vista? I have no idea whether the alt driver acts up in Vista. but it might.

I would not buy another of those cards. Buy this:

and this:

Microsoft MCE Remote 2005 (version 2) or 2a

using xp mce sp2 with hotfixes...

to be honest, i may rebuild as i seem to be having trouble with the o/s now and again (will use xp pro)

i do have vista, but prefer xp until vista is a bit more stable (ie. sp1!).

is gbpvr ok with vista?
