Greetings

While I realize that this could get subjective/objective answers I thougt instead of asking if this is ok ? or are there better ones ? etc... I'd like to simply ask if this card would suffice for a SDTV output. I am not going to HD or digital in the next year or so. I am currently using the 6150 on mb video out. My objective is to offload the processing from the CPU and also to possibly have a better, more compatible video out for my gbpvr.

the northbridge should be doing all the graphics processing so that shouldnt be a problem. but that card looks fine. I personally like ATI's handling of TV output, since you can click one button that says enable "TV mode" and it seems to automatically output a perfect NTSC signal (720x480, seems to get mapped line for line on the screen)

May want to consider a fan less card for your HTPC as well... video cards fans are typically one of the noisiest items in a pc.

NPVR Rig: HP Laptop, 3rd Gen i7, 8gb DDR3, 250gb SSD (OS), Records to 6tb array on my server, Silicon Dust HDHomeRun PRIME

I agree with those guys. But your setup sounds great for SD as it is. I would ask myself why spend more money on SD. HD is where the real money pit is!Wink

Seriously though, if you're even thinking of moving to HD later on, you probably will want to get a video card that can do hardware Spatial-Temporal De-Interlacing and hardware Inverse Telecine of HD content. Check this Nvidia page for info on Nvidia products with that. Sorry I'm not familar with ATI products.

I still have a PVR-150 and with my Asus 6150 motherboard, it handles SD content without breaking a sweat. However, I am at the limit of it's HD capability. The only thing it can't do (without an extra card) is watch HD deinterlaced LiveTV.
