The original function of the video archive plug-was just that, to archive videos from one location to another. It has grown since then to do much more. You can of course roll your own at any time (that's in effect what I did when I created the plug-in in the first place), but if you or others want to use it for this purpose it is there. I have 2 1TB NAS drives that are use for archived storage and it works fine.

Indeed. Wink Even though I dealt with my need, I am still interested in VA. I found this section of the Wiki confusing:

"ArchiverUtility.exe archives old records from your primary videos directory to a backup location, retaining all of the description information related with the records"

I interpreted "records" as "database entries corresponding to your recordings," so thought it generated a superset of recording-dump.xml containing all the nifty VA extra information.

Can ArchiverUtility.exe be used outside of the plugin to simply move videos around?

Thanks for the note.

Oops, that is a typo; record should be recordings. I'll fix it.

You can use the archive utility outside of the plug-in although you will have to install and configure the plug-in to specify you list of archive locations (just don't enable it in GBPVR and then it will not show up on your gbpvr menu).

Thanks for the clarification. I'll give VA a try, it looks like a very interesting set of functions.
