As discussed over in the SiliconDust forum, I ocassionally get incomplete QAM recordings (only 6 KB) with GB-PVR 1.0.16 and HDHR with the latest firmware.

The last time it happened was at 13:00 EDT today (1 minute pre-delay, so actually 12:59). I rebooted at 13:39, hoping that would fix it, but just got a couple more 6 KB files. The show was "Search for the Sea Serpent", and the logs are attached. I have earlier ones too from today when it did work (and also when it didn't) if that would help.

These 6KB .dvr-ms files are usually a sign that device didnt lock a signal, so no data was delivered. The 6KB that is there is not from the device, but rather just Microsoft headers etc.

Thanks. The show can always be viewed properly in VLC when launched from the HDHomeRun Config utility, so I know it is there. But I have submitted the HDHR logs to them also, so maybe they can spot something.

I have found that the problem is channel-specific. The digital channel mappings in GB-PVR get messed up on certain channels for some reason. It is not entirely clear why, but it seems to correlate to those channels that GB-PVR will not display reliably in the scan preview window. That in turn depends on the playback video decoder used. I was using the Nero decoder, which did not work for all channels for me. (The Sonic Cinemaster was even worse.) The Main Concepts (Hauppauge) video decoder works properly now. It is a free download that I use with my MediaMVP anyway. We will see if it solves the problem permanently. But it helps explain why I could view all the channels properly using VLC launched from the HDHR utility, even though they did not record properly.

FYI,

I use ffdshow tryout beta 3 with HDHR and have had success on all channels.

Thanks very much. I have not tried ffdshow before, but have had various problems with the video decoders. But this is the first time that I have been able to tie it in with the channel mapping problem. Maybe Sub can look into it when he gets back. It does not seem obvious to me that problems with the video decoder has to lead to a loss of channel mappings on the affected channels.
