I'm planning to acquire a test rig soon so I'm thinking about another Nova-T-500. I found a boxed used one on Ebay, so I put a £26 max bid on it which with £4 postage would have come to £30.

It just went for £55.55 (not including the £4 delivery)

I'm not too worried about missing it though, 'cos I can get a brand new one with a years warranty for £51.74 with free delivery from Ebuyer. Wink

Yeah - some people on eBay worry me. Ebuyer is one of the first places I look for anything computing related. I bought most of my capture cards from them but they're not always the cheapest though...

Before GB-PVR supported DVB-T, I was trying to source a PVR-500 (dual analogue) and looked at Ebuyer - the price was over 300GBP if I remember correctly. I went to the US Hauppauge online shop and bought one for 199USD - it was shipped from Ireland but with import duty I think it worked out at around 140GBP. Big Grin

Shop around people!

Cheers,
Brian

Shop around is good. Off ebay today I just got a neoprene laptop sleeve for $9.97 incl shipping so that was much better than the $30 i would be paying locally.

it never ceases to amaze me how many people pay over the odds for stuff on fleebay. Either they don't bother checking out the going rate for the item before they buy, forget about postage costs or just get sucked into the "must win" mentality.

That puzzles me too..

I mean, it's not difficult...

Think of something you want or need
Google for best prices (remember P and P)
Search for it on Ebay
Based on age and condition, place your max bid
Wait till you get the email saying you got it or didn't

Then again, it also depends on how much cash you have and how quickly you want something. There are certain eBay traders I've used a few times whose prices aren't the cheapest nor their P&P but I know they'll despatch same day (generally Buy It Now items like print cartridges and batteries and stuff).

Going back to Ebuyer (on that same note), I once payed £20 delivery for a £12.95 PSU.

The PSU in my GB-PVR box burnt out on a Thursday, by the time I'd verified this was the problem, it was the early hours of Friday morning. 20 quid charge for a next-day delivery on a Saturday morning. In those days I had the money to do it and we had a shed-load of stuff due to record over the weekend. It had to be done. Big Grin

Surely you would have been better off supporting you local business and purchasing a cheap psu form your local computer store (assume there was a local one).

Normally something I would have done (support local businesses etc.) but I refuse to use my local computer shop after they messed me around bigtime when I was trying to find a replacement mobo for my machine a couple of years ago.

The next choice is the local PCWorld but the only 500W PSU they had in stock at the time was £60 so, ironically, paying £20 postage saved me money even though the idea of it hurt at the time.

Cheers,
Brian
