I have an HVR-1600 and a sound blaster audigy, and use DirecTV. I've been able to get the video capture to work fine, but the captured audio is out of sync w/the video. I have the audio from the DirecTV box plugged into the sound blaster card using a digital optical cable. Should this be connected to the HVR-1600, and if so, what type of cable do I use instead?

I'm not sure how you're managing to capture audio from your optical cable connected to your soundcard. When using the analog side of the HVR1600, GB-PVR should only be able to capture audio using the audio inputs on the HVR1600.

I have an adapter that plugs into the soundblaster card for the optical cable. Should I plug the audio out from the DirecTV box into the input jack on the HVR-1600? If so, what type of cable should I use? The DirecTV box doesn't have a line out.

There is no logic in GB-PVR that would be capture audio from your soundcard input, so I'm surprised you're getting anything. Its hardcoded to only get audio from the capture device's audio input.

Yes

Just normal left/right audio cable with RCA connectors.

I've never seen a box that doesnt support these. If this one doesnt, then you're probably out of luck.

or you could use the RF feed...[chan 3 or 4 out] of the DTV box...Smile
just set the cap source to use 'fixed channel' input and select the ch. used..
and plug the coax cable into the 1600...

but that's only if you don't have audio outs, cuz they are infinitely better..Smile
