Hey guys,

I have an idea for a plugin that would really complete my Home Theater. I'd like to have a plugin to GB-PVR that is a database of all the DVD movies I have. I have basically an unlimited supply of dvd-r media and the top tier of Netflix service so as you can guess my movie collection is quite large. It would be cool for someone who is using the MVP to browse the dvd collection to see what is available. Any thoughts around this? I think building a PC side entry form into an access or sql database would be easy enough, it's the GB-PVR side that I have no idea how to create.

It's actually on my todo list. Just don't know when I will get to it. Sad

I do have a the metadata info for about 5000 DVDs right now though Wink

Do you ever sleep? LOL

What I'm thinking is something very simple to start with. Something sortable by Title or Genre. I have a MDB file if you want it that has quite a bit of info already in it as far as genre's, ratings, region, case type, location, and a whole lot of other unused fields at this point.

Sounds like a cool project.

Would GBPVR then be able to search your magic database to add descriptions & otehr info to the existing or upcoming recorded shows from TV, like the IMDB searches?

VideoArchive does this but (AFAIK) only for DVD's, not recorded movies or shows in the Dir allocated to those shows.

The video archive plug-in does this for any file under a directory that is configured in the plug-in as a "DVD" directory. For recordings it pulls this information from the GBPVR database.

I was playing around with a Bookshelf idea very similar to this.
Could not find enough time to create a working model though.
Would have liked to be able to auto search from the recording function so as not to double up on titles recorded.

Although that's cool, I'm looking for a stand alone plugin that would use either an access database or sql database. That database would be populated either from importing a CSV file and/or a front end GUI. The plugin would simply read the database and display results in GB-PVR. Would be nice to be able to select how the output is ordered ... by title, genre, etc.

You can of course create your own database, but there is an API to to the VA database via CommonGBPVRUtilities if you wanted to pull information from it or populate it. The data is stored in a SQLite database so you could also write your own direct queries.
