I'm still using comskip version 79.71 and up until recently it's been working near flawlessly. Obviously well done software that just works and you almost forget it's there.

I was playing around with higher bit rates lately and have noticed a lot of comskip errors on these recordings. I went to 9000 CBR and these recordings are of auto and motorcycle racing.

The errors are all over the place. Sometimes a good chunk of the show goes missing, but most of the time several commercials are left in and not with any kind of consistency.

I plan on updating to the latest comskip version, but is there a maximum bit rate to use to keep comskip happy?

Cheers

Not that I am aware of...
When you take the newer comskip releases there is a file called comskipGUI.exe in the zip file.
Put it next to you comskip.exe file and drag and drop the high bit rate recording on comskipGUI.exe
Then you can visually see how comskip processes the high bitrate file.
Do try, its fun.

OK, thanks for the tip. I was wondering what it was.

105 is in now, we'll see how things pan out.

Cheers

105 cuts too much. I'm going back.

As you can read in the readme.txt file I have now included more agressive settings.
You can take the ini file of build 103 or earlier
