The other nite, my wife was using the main PVR server in the living room to play a game. I wanted to catch up on some recorded shows, so I powered up the MVP from the bedroom. My wife began to experience skips in the game, and it caused her to die in the game. (Obviously we don't want our wives dieing in-game...)

I only have 1Gb of RAM, but I do have a 3GHz processor. I'm wondering if the RAM was the issue, and I need more?

Any thoughts?

The reality is that the MVP consumes alot of CPU generating screens, so there is always the potential for this sort of problem if you're using the machine for multiple things at the same times. Obviously faster dual core processors are less prone, but it's still a possibility.

Make sure you have <MvpHighPriority>false</MvpHighPriority> in your config.xml to give other apps a fair chance at the CPU.

Here's a question...
Let's say I have the server in the basement keeping the the GBPVR database, my MVP in the bedroom, and put a remote box (mini PC) in the living room running PVRX2 as a client. (That way I can do DRM stuff in there.) The mini PC would be rendering it's own PVRX2 stuff, right? So all it would need from the server is media, which is light on the CPU, correct?
