Hello everyone,

Long time lurker first time poster. I have to say that this is a fantastic forum and I've been coming here virtually everyday since I discovered GBpvr several years ago. I also obviously have to say a huge thank you to Sub for all his hard work and effort, GBpvr is for me the best media center software (free or commercial) out there, so thank you Sub.

Introductions aside I've been tempted to post this suggestion for ages, but as I said I'm a life long lurker Smile. I was prompted really by ApexHack's recent thread on padding handling w/multiple tuners and although our difficulties aren't the exact same I think my suggestion could help us both.

The problem I have is that I can't get GBpvr to honour padding on back-to-back shows. I have a Nova-t 500 to handle digital reception and a PVR-500 for analogue. <TryToHonourPaddingIfPossible> is obviously set to yes and <PreferAlternatingCaptureSources> is set to false. But when I try to record back-to-back on either the digital or analogue card, even if they are the only recordings, GBpvr wont honour the padding. It simply stops and starts again on the same tuner, which results in chopping off the end of one show or the beginning of another.

Finally my suggestion, simple the ability to manually select which tuner is used to record each show. If in the manual recording pop-up you had the ability to specify which tuner is used (based on what you have listed in the capture sources) you could then remove the guess works and dictate that recording one uses tuner one and recording two uses tuner two and basically overlap any back-to-back recordings. I'm sure it could be tied into GBpvr's conflict logic to point out any conflicts and it would give greater control.

Also ApexHack could then dictate which shows were recorded back-to-back on the same tuner and which were padded.

Thanks again sub for the great software and any feedback on the idea would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

It is possible to do this, but then you end up with multiple listings (one listing for each card/group of cards) - which makes it pretty hard to scroll through listings. I use mine as a headless server and schedule everything via EWA so it really doesn't bother me. Attached is a screenshot of my system with EWA.

I had to do this because I have a dual tuner satellite system and I can't IR-Blast the second tuner ( so I can't very well have GBPVR automatically selecting that one Smile ).

So after using multiple listings for a year here's my setup:
2 PVR150's: One for each tuner in my dual tuner satellite receiver ("4 KDFW T1" and "4 KDFW T2" in the screenshot) The T1 and T2 are my code for Tuner 1 and Tuner 2.

2 Twinhan ATSC tuners: ("4 KDFWDT" - just one listing for both tuners - I don't care which one GBPVR uses)

1 Emuzed card: uses s-video input from an OTA ATSC tuner downcoverted to 480i. (no extra designation in the tv guide - in the case of the screen shot, it's "4 KDFW"

Reply to this post or PM me if you want to know how to set it up.

My apologies Sub, I really should have double checked before making the suggestion.

flyswatta, cheers for the suggestion. I didn't even know you could do that, but I suppose that for me this quirk falls into the annoying rather than show stopping column and that's probably why I haven't posted it before.

Thanks for the help though, appreciate it.
