Ok, so as i am sure everyone here knows component video in on a capture card is hard to come by. I have however been able to track down a card that is affordable (around $100 or less).

Leadtek makes capture cards that have the ability to accept component in. Newegg sells one, the pxpvr1200 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6815122010)

There has also been mention of another 3000 series card that is on their website, leadtek.com that was supposedly on newegg but no longer. This card apparently had issues going above 480p even though it was supposed to.

The question is can the leadtek cards work with gb-pvr? They do do hardware mpeg II encoding but they really were not listed in the capture section on this site. As this is one of a select very few that make this type of card for this price I was wondering if anyone has tried any with success?

I need to run component due to my satellite box. Could do s-video but I am looking for all the resolution I can get if I am going to make this PVR I want.

Any ideas or other cards that work would be great to hear about as I have wasted much time looking for them online. Hope someone has some good advice!

Well unfortunately I don't think its a hardware mpeg encoder card.
The chip used on the card is listed here and there is no mention of mpeg encoding
http://www.conexant.com/products/entry.jsp?id=393
It looks like the pcb board is a reference design that should support a hardware mpeg encoder.
This is same thing with hardware encoder but don't know what resolutions are supported or if it can use the hardware encoder for the component
http://leadtek.com/eng/tv_tuner/specific...id=6&act=2
According to conexant this cards chipset supports hd mpeg encoding
http://leadtek.com/eng/tv_tuner/overview...nameid=322
Its nice to know that there are chipset solutions out there for hardware mpeg encoding
more info here http://www.conexant.com/products/entry.jsp?id=120
now the question is how do you hook up digital audio to capture for surround sound.

How can you tell if these cards should work or not? Is there some spec that would indicate it works? If this is the only component solution at this time maybe the only way to know is just try it?

I'm pretty certain it wont work with GB-PVR. I also cant see any indication of it doing high def.
