I need to make a few recordings in transport stream format. Do I need to use tsreader and a compatible card or does gbpvr record in ts? If so, any suggestions for an ATSC card that does this?
Here in Austin the only ATSC stations that broadcast in 720p is FOX the rest are 1080i. Is that the case in other areas of the US as well? Does ABC ever broadcast in 720p?

With any ATSC card compatible with GB-PVR you can record a transport stream file. You just need to set the mux to the 'TS Mux' option. If you need to play the .ts file back in GB-PVR then you also need a TS source filter installed on your machine (for example, haali media splitter).

This is a partial transport stream, meaning it only has that channel's audio/video streams and all the other unused streams are discarded to save space.

Great. I have an AVER Media USB dongle as well as some test cards here that I will try out.
Thx.

I captured a file using with the mux set as TS Mux using my AverMedia USB ATSC dongle. The file plays in VLC and media player, but tsreader won't open it. Has anyone ever opened a .ts file with tsreader that was captured with pvrx2?
