Hi,

I had problems setting up more than one channel, PVRX2 showed only one and I could not add more channels. So I uninstalled gpbvr, deleted the gbpvr directory (with the old database) and installed gbpvr again.

With that fresh install of gbpvr 1.1.5 on a Vista I have configured everything like it shoud be (i think so): capture source is set up, all channels configured. I used SQLSypLite to check if the channels are set in the gbpvr.db3 file and they are set correctly. The mapping is correct too.

But: the PVRX2 (and the GBPVR too) do show only one channel and in Manual recordings it shows only this channel too. So, it seems to me that PVRX2 does not read the database or uses an old version of it. There are no error messages in the logs.

Any hints?

After more investigation I found out, that I was fooled by the so called Virtual Store of Vista. It redirects write access to files instead of deny access to these files. The program that does not have the write access rights claims that it has written the files correctly, the file itself is not overwritten.

So in my case the PVRX2.exe reads the file
c:\Users\martin\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.db3
instead of
c:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\gbpvr.db3.
Deleting the file in virtual store helps. Then PVRX2 uses the right database file.

I just found out that there is another issue with the Virtual Store thingy. (well, its nearly the same...) Because the config tool has administrator rights, but the PVRX2 app uses my normal (non-admin) login, those two applications use different databases. This causes that no recording starts.

The solution is: give your normal login the rights to write the gbpvr.db3 file.

This happens during install, so works for most people, but I'm aware of a couple of things that can cause the file to be recreated which loses these rights - so occassionaly we get people with exactly this problem.

Glad you got it sorted though.
