My GB-PVR system was working fine. I disconnected my computer and took it to repair shop to see if he could figure out why the computer crashes whenever I try to watch a Netfilx movie via direct download. The movie runs for 7 to 10 minutes and then the computer crashes. I get a blue screen with a bunch of useless info and it takes for ever for the computer to boot again. You simply have to turn it off and leave it alone for a hour or so.

After watching the computer fail (while watching a Netflix downloaded/streamed move) in his repair shop, he decided he couldn't help me after all, so I brought the computer back home and hooked every thing up again. When I tried to watch live TV via PVRX2 I discovered it no longer worked. I then ran the 'Tuning Assistant' and got the message 'Failed to find TV tuner filter. Wrong device type?'. I have uninstalled and relinstalled the GB-PVR system. I made sure the Hauppauge 'Roslyn' tv tuner card is seated properly and checked the status of the 5 Hauppauge WinTV 88x device drivers that the operating system (XP Home) automatically installed when it first discovered the card. The OS says they are all working properly. Short of reformating the hard drive and replacing XP Home with XP Pro, and then reinstalling everything, what do I do. Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this problem?

The machine has an AMD 6000 dual core processor (I'm told XP Home treats it as a single core) with 2 gig of ram, an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro video card and a 300 gig HD.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs, and I'll take a look.

Also run the Filtercheck.exe utility from the gbpvr directory and attach the filtercheck.log that gets created.

Something seems to be wrong with the "Hauppauge WinTV 88x Tuner" filter on your machine. It'd normally have multiple pins. Yours has none.

It might be worth uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling.

I bought the card used, so nothing came with it. I didn't install any drivers, whatever XP Home needed to support the card it already had. Thus I don't know what drivers to uninstall and then reinstall. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Download the latest PVR150 driver CD from the Hauppauge website. I'm fairly sure it'll contain drivers for this device.

I'm not exactly sure which set of drivers I actually need so I tried both 150 and 160. They installed fine but I still got the same result 'no tv tuner filter'. I'm going to scratch the hard drive and install XP Pro and go from there. Thanks for your help.
