I seem to be lost in a mire of my own posts.

I know others are more up to snuff on the leatest with MEncoder and FFMpeg (and maybe even VLC)

Aside from the public release sites, would ayone know of the sites that have the latest stable releases, (beta or otherwise)

I'm looking at newer features for video and audi format transcoding including 264, mkv and dvr-ms ac3, aac etc..

zehd, if you want to be cutting-edge why not compile it yourself from the SVN? It's a good way to stay on top of new stuff and you can even report bugs. I did this with vlc when I was was more involved with it and I think I kept a few problems from creeping into the "release"

If you want regular early releases check here http://ffdshow.faireal.net/

I've gone through quite a few versions of MEncoder and can't find one that will do dvr-ms. According to your page, stattik, MPlayer-mingw32–1.0pre8 works well with vobs, though I can't find that version anymore...

I wondered whether that version can also do dvr-ms.

BTW, I meant convert them and keep them in sync. I could find a lot, but the lost audio sync...

BTW, I have found a ffmpeg that works well, except it doesn't allow for an MP3 as an output codec... That's a small price to pay.

In my experience, you need to specify "-demuxer 35" when working with dvr-ms. I use it in my script. It's worked for me on SD recordings but the last time I checked an HD recording, the audio was misidentified as PCM.

Well I know that I have a pretty temperamental sample of Wide dvr-ms that I'm testing with but so far there's only one transcoder that does it.

It's the Alternate FFmpeg that was made (custom) last year and I was allowed to have on the wiki.

But I really wanted MEncoder to do it.

Supposedly, MEncoder can, in certain guises, but I can't get it working on my tough sample...

Oh well, at least I can do on the fly transcoding of dvr-ms on my mvp...
