Dear all, hello,

I write this having watched 'The Apprentice' tonight on the BBC in the UK. I believe the format may have been sold to other countries, Donald Trump I believe did it in the US, is there also an Aussie Version? Is this a global thing, or just Western money grabbing a TV moment?

I hope that anything I say won't disclude me from further GBPVR worldwide chat about GBPVR but if it does then at least I vented.

Sub, thank you for what I believe is the best homegrown, Windows based, Freeware, PVR Program around. I've kept by it for about 4 years now (although admitting to have looked at some others) but without a doubt yours wins hands down with the endless config possibilities.

My Complaints:

The Wiki is looking shabby.

The Threads are in a mess.

No one knows what the latest GBPVR Elements Library/ GBPVR Utilities is to load, some Plugins and Utilities come with it, some don't, and even when they do it may not be the latest 'official version?'

Anarchy, is in theory, a brilliant thing.

With much respect

What you mean?? GBPVRPublic.dll and PVRUiPublic.dll are very well versioned, and there is only the one version that is installed with the application. There is no other versions of them, and no plugins require different versions of these files. I cant remember a single instance of these files causing version problems for plugins.

I'm guessing you're talking about one of the libraries some of the plugin developers wrote themselves (common-utilities.dll or something like that?). This is nothing to do with me, and not a part of GB-PVR. If there is a mess around different versions of file, then its of the plugin developers own making.

Sub,

please if you can go with my angsty:

I hit the Wiki:

I Click on Quick Start:

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Quick...QuickStart

Yup done that

I hit installation notes:

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manua...ationNotes

Yup done that too

I take the link for Using GVP/PVR, no problem, I've got the Wiki/Forums to help me?

Set up, well quite not yet, what a fool I am 'cos I haven't done the EPG:

OK sort of got that sorted 'cos I spent 3 hours trawling through endless data to sort that one out on the EPG front:

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG

All I'm was trying to say was Wiki was out of time and needed updating, no offendation meant, still great proggie!

Cheers

I wont disagree with you that parts of the wiki are messy and out of date. It is what is. Feel free to update it if there is specific areas you'd like improved.

My post above was really to delve into the one part of your comments I did disagree with. I'm very careful to make sure the class libraries supplied for plugins to use (GBPVRPublic.dll and PVRUiPublic.dll) are very stable, and there is no need for users to track down specific versions of these files to ensure their plugins work. Their plugins should work with the versions of these files that were installed with the application.

There is so little worth watching on peak time UK TV just now - thank goodness for Recordings, Video Library, MovieWiz and all the other gbpvr goodies...

Unlikely...

You are so right there...

Like sub said...

That possibly deserves a thread of it's own...

Sub,

I have to disagree,

these files are not EASY to find on the Wiki.

Where would you like me to go from the WIKI?

Give me the link with the latest files and I will humble, but the latest files I've talked about do not appear on the Wiki, it involves hours of searching. Do not just give me a link but a clickable link from the Wiki Cool

Give me the link for common GBPVR Utilities?

Give me a link for common GBPVR Elements?

If, as you say, these are included with the latest PVR Build why did they not install until I installed McBain's stuff?

You say that the latest release does this, it doesn't, there is anarchy.... afoot

I feel awful for what seems to be having a go at you because I think your software is awesome but I am a Virgo and need to complain about something!

Cheers

You dont need to find the plugin support files I'm talking about, they're included with every install of GB-PVR. You'll find GBPVRPublic.dll and PVRUiPublic.dll in your gbpvr directory.

These are not part of GB-PVR, and nothing to do with me. These are part of a plugin, and were written by plugin developers, so no "offical version". This isnt really a problem I can solve for you - you'd have to talk to the plugin developers about these.
