Every damned time I start my web browser, some big headline about the olympics pops up, spoiling results of events I won't watch for another 12 hours or so. So far I think I've known already about every USA medal and failure-to-medal before I could watch it. Those of you in Europe get the events closer to live, but still if you record them and watch later (to skip commercials if for no other reason) you must get the same effect. Annoying isn't it?

FYI - you can change your home page to "about:blank" and you'll start with a blank screen every time you start your browser. I always do this when I use a browser for the first time.
Tuners: SD HDHR Prime (HDHR3-CC). SD HDHR Connect Quatro Tuner (HDHR5-4US) - only QAM.  EXVIST H.265 Encoder - capturing cable box.
Client: Odroid-N2 running knewc on KODI - connected via MoCA.
EPG: SchedulesDirect
Provider: Verizon Fios
Server: Dell XPS 8700 with Windows 10

The news or results won't spoil the NBC coverage, watch it and you still might not know who wins. CBC coverage has been great so far.

well of course I know that, but I like having a real web page for my home page, and normally prefer a general news site so that I can see what's going on around the world. This thread is just idle complaining about the inevitable results of having the olympics almost exactly on the opposite side of the world from me. Of course even when the olympics were in or near my time zone (Vancouver, Salt Lake City, Atlanta), the primary coverage on NBC was still delayed until "primetime", but there was plenty of live coverage too when I wanted it.

In the UK it's covered by the BBC - they don't do commercials. Big Grin

I cut the cord years ago & went to Playon Media server, Hulu plus, & netflix.
Two nights ago I dug out my HVR 1600 and installed NPVR on my media server.
Then I took my home made DB4 antenna & hooked it up to the server (i keep it in the corner for the big screen and set it up when I want to watch something) LOL!

Just so I could watch the Olympics without an antenna on my dining room table. LOL!
Haven't used this software since it was GBPVR and really liking the new version.
