A question regarding linking in telnet.htm

Hi there.

I'm just wondering why you choose to link to script.cgi and gbpvr.cgi like this;

Code:

<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB].....script.cgi">Telnet</a>

instead of just;

Code:

<a href="script.cgi">Telnet</a>

I mean, you are already "on the share".
Both ways work just fine, I'm just curious...

Thanks for all your hard work, gbpvr is a very nice app!.

No reason except that it works and is tested. I thought the root port 8883 was /opt/sybhttpd/default/ and so things might have changed since I first started trying to figure this out.

Sub, deserves all the credit for GB-PVR but I agree, I think it is a nice app, and it is worth the effort for me to try to support it.

I thought I tried "script.cgi" with no path in the past and it didnt work for me, but that was quite a while back, so may its something thats changed in one of the subsequent firmware updates.

Being able to use "script.cgi" without path would certainly be worth doing by default since it makes things that little bit easier.

I don't know if it worked before, I've used the "long link" until today when I modified the telnet.htm file once more to add "Update Firmware" (to avoid using a usb-stick...). So i just tried to link directly to usbupdate.htm and it worked, then I tried the same with script.cgi and voila.

Edit: I've renamed the telnet.htm to index.htm to get it to autostart when selecting the share, that's why I've added the link to the file instead of just selecting usbupdate.htm in the share (if you're wondering).

Hi there.

Well, it could work smoother but it works, the first time I access the share I must select proper filter OR i just hit back and then select the share again. Now it autoloads index.htm every time I select the share IF I don't access another share in between (I can play around with web services and then come back without any problems).

I hope that I'm clear.

Yesterday I tried script.cgi without the path and it didnt work for me. It just spat out the text of script.cgi to the screen instead of executing it.

Just tried linking to script.cgi and you are correct, it just echoed the text from the script on screen.
When I wrote the first post I just tried with

<a href="usbupdate.htm">Update Firmware</a>

instead of

Code:

<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%....../usbupdate.htm">Update Firmware</a>

and that works just as fine as the "long" link. So, I assumed that the same was true regarding other files beeing linked to (script.cgi for one) but it wasn't.
Conclusion: at least *.htm can be linked to without full path, haven't tried any other file types.
