UncleJohn,

I never used to have a problem streaming from GBPVR EWA to remote VLC clients. Recently I seem to be having nothing but problems.

I get a couple of seconds (sometimes as much as a minute) of audio/video and then it stops and eventually disconnects. When I look in the VLC log I get tons of

main warning: PTS is out of range (3504912), dropping buffer
main warning: PTS is out of range (3483578), dropping buffer
main warning: PTS is out of range (3462256), dropping buffer
main warning: late picture skipped (3579756)
main warning: late picture skipped (3561400)
main warning: late picture skipped (3528034)
ffmpeg error: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)

I've tried several PC's, from a P4 to a Duo2 Core...so its definately not the PC. Any ideas why this has started occuring?

I've tried 128/256/512 and they all do the same. For Transcoding, WMV/MP4A/MPEG-TS seems to work the most reliably. That option sometimes runs for 5-10 mins

On a side note, is there any reason why all of my streamed programs seem to be saved into my GBPVR library? is there a way to have them auto-deleted or at least saved into the GBPVR Temp directory?

Thanks

Graham

Only way I ever got WMV to work is with MP3 and ASF as the sound and transport.

Nothing has changed in the streaming area for some time...try using the above (WMV/MP3/ASF).

I personally think the the manual settings using MPEG-4 codec with MPEG-4 audio and the H264 Video Encoder engine provides the best results.

Thanks John. Any reason why when I stream livetv the shows seem to be saved to the video library?

Yep....because what happens when you initiate a stream is the following:

You click on Stream Now
This starts a recording of the show you want to stream
VLC is started and is pointed to the file that is being recorded
VLC reads the file
VLC transcodes the file and streams it out to your target port

When the stream is done or you click to stop the stream on the server EWA initiates the stop of the recording and the delete of the file that was being used.

John,

So it should delete the file after the stream is either stopped manually, or when the stream is automatically stopped (at the end of a show).

This doesn't seem to be happening for me.

Only if it is live tv will it delete the recording.....if the recording already existed then it leaves it alone and you have to manually delete it.

Just tried it a couple of times.....stream now watch video for a little while then clicked stop stream on server. Files deleted.

Look in the EWA log....available from the statistics tab....after you have clicked on stop stream on server.....you should see something like the following....
