Is there a free schedule listing service? I'm sure this is the magic question and all I see is SchedulesDirect. I also only need to record a few channels a few times/month so don't need a full schedule listing service. What advice can you provide?

thanks

There are methods of scraping web pages for listings, takes some work. Search for xmltv and look at this thread.

No free listing service is currently available.

I don't believe there are any free schedule listing services available for North America. There are a few free programs that will retrieve North American listings in XMLTV format. Zap2xml is one. There is also one for Yahoo and one for MSN. I have tried all of them and they all worked at the time I tried them. If you have MCE or Vista MC you can try MCEEpgDownloader and MCEEpg2Xmltv (search the GBPVR forums). If you only want a few channels, and want to select if you get only titles or titles AND descriptions, take a look at TVXB. You can set that up to get each channel from different websites (if you can find websites that provide html that TVXB can process, and there is the number of days that you want from the websites you find).
