Gamezone Returns to Main Menu

I'm out of things to check. I'm having two issues with Gamezone after upgrading to the latest version and patch (2.5.2).

First issue was that Mame roms were causing PVRX2 errors; specifically 'Parameter Out of Bounds' and 'Out of Memory' errors when loading the full rom directory (6869 roms). I haven't solved this but just avoided it by leaving only one rom in the directory for testing.

Second issue issue is that whenever a Mame, Zsnes or PC game is clicked on it returns to the main PVRX2 menu without launching the game. Previously I had a similar issue with an earlier version of Gamezone and deleting the registry references to ePSX fixed it. This time there were no such registry references. I see no errors in the logs but will include them. I did try to re-enable ePSX to see if it did anything and it did not.

One thing concerning me is the number of files skipped with the 2.4 installation. I wondered if my install itself was simply incomplete. I've tried to uninstall and it appears that my last install/uninstall cycle removed my install log. It was skipping common files already in place like WizUI, etc.

Appreciate any input or suggestions. I'm visiting family and working through some of their GBPVR issues. Especially helpful for game controller issues as I normally support them via VNC. Only here another day so all help is appreciated.

This could be a hard one for me to replicate, I would see about adding multiple paths and splitting the ROMs over 3 or 4 paths trying not to go over a couple of thousend in each one, its a quick n dirty fix but should work.

Hmm ok I will take a look at the logs and see what is going on, hopefully you were running with debug for the log level when you did this.

If you upgrade the 2.4 install over an existing 2.x install there will be a lot of files skipped as you already have them and they are the correct versions.

Looking at the logs it would seem there is an issue with the gamezone database could also explain the out of bounds issue you reported. try deleting the GameZone.mdb file in gbpvr/Gamezone directory.

There should be a backup copy in the same directory, its filesixe is just under 300K copy and rename it to GameZone.mdb and then load up the config app; press the Mame "Build Database" button and see how you go.

I still have an issue with MAME that I'm working through where it opens and then shuts down. I can see command prompt open in front of PVRX2 and see the first MAME screen of Frogger but then it stops. I'm still investigating over VNC.

Everything else opened wonderfully and I"m going to try to put Skype on to do video conferencing from the couch.

Glad the corrupt database fixed most of your issues.

For the mame one you described, take a look at the pvrx2.exe.log and look for an entry that asays "Launched" around there you will se the command line that has been used to launch frogger. if you then try putting that in to a dos command window see what error you get. you may have to put quotes around the mame path for it to find mame if there are spaces in the path
