Hello-

When I play some DVDs on my system, I don't get the right audio channels to my speakers. I have standard stereo sound, built in the motherboard (don't have the exact chip type available right now), but it seems like GB-PVR is playing the rear surround tracks to the speakers. In fact, when I play a DVD in VLC, I can select the track manually, and that's what I get when I select Dolby 5.1 output mode (it works fine if I select "stereo"). How can I change this default in GB-PVR? I tried messing with the audio decoder settings, to no avail, but I doubt I went through every option.

A few suggestions....

Is windows set to 2 speakers in control panel?
Does your soundcard have any options to select 2.0 configuration (some swap the mic and line in jacks to 5.1 out)
Some soundcards have a downmix or virtual surround option - if you select these it may remix 5.1 to 2.0 for you.
Some DVD disks default to 5.1 in their own menu screens - try selecting stereo there before playing it.
green button (ctrl+g) cycles audio tracks in gbpvr - you may be able to switch between 2.0 and 5.1 this way.
What audio decoder are you using and what other ones have you tried?? Something simple like MPAdecoder should only output 2.0 (I think), where as AC3filter will decode 5.1, but does have downmix settings in it's options panel.
I never use it but I have a vague memory that windows media player has some 5.1 settings deep in it's options menu that may be system wide (or maybe just a repeat of something above....)

VLC is a law unto itself, (in a good way - which is why I love it and it's so versatile) but it does tend to handle media differently to the rest of windows, so I wouldn't take it as the 'benchmark' by which to gauge how other Windows media apps will behave.
