My setup:
=======
1. XP professional

2. .NET framework - I was not sure if I had this...Clicked on the provided link under "requirements in GBPVR" and installed - Got a screen "REPAIR OR UNINSTALL" - Did a REPAIR

Tried the latest and greatest first 1.2.13 but it crapped out with the following window:

Error 1335: The cabinet file "Cabs.w1.cab" required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error. an error reading from the CD ROM or problem with the package"

So.. I proceeded with the installation of version 1.2.9. The installation went smoothly. After installation I clicked the PVRX2 and got the enclosed screen shot!

Interesting....

FYI, I am using this as a CLIENT. My network maps were wrong! But I did not expect GBPVR to crash with a error window!

I now pointed to the correct network share and it works!

But I have another problem now.....

My x.264 avi files are not playing but there is sound. What codec you guys suggest to play x.264 - Free off couse :-)

I have VLC and the avi files play very well...

How do I tell GBPVR use the VLC codec? Or is there another easy way?

Thx

VLC's decoders are embedded within it's executable and not usable in other applications.

Most people doing H.264 video are using either the Cyberlink or CoreAVC video decoders. These arent free though. You might be able to get it working with the ffdshow decoders, but remember to add pvxr2.exe to its list of enabled apps.

There is some setting in the newer versions of ffdshow that has a list of the applications it'll work with (defaults like Windows Media Player, GraphEdit etc), and you need to add pvrx2.exe in to that list.

Select it as the decoder in the config app, and hit the settings button to view the ffdshow settings

Ok - I now realize that I had an older version of ffdshow.

Installed the newer version and everything is golden. BTW, there is no configuration to be done (for ffdshow to use pvxr2.exe).

I cant believe it! I have an old laptop sony VGP-S360 which is attached to a docking station -> DVI-D to HDMI adapter -> DENON AVR 2807 and the picture is fantastic over the G wireless.

Will have to figure out to get N wireless, TV & 5.1 sound

Lots of other users havnt been so lucky, and definitely do have to specifically add pvxr2.exe to list. Mainly because they havnt paid attention to the ffdshow popups, and have dismissed them without reading.

Thanks for your help.

I am using x.264 codec and the picture is pretty good (cannot distinguish) via crappy laptop (RADEON 9700) over 50 inch plasma TV
