Hi. Need some expert advice.

In my setup, the subtitles of videos (avi) when played by the mvp are always out of sync. I can´t get that to work.
I've tried to tweak the "SubtitleDelayMVP" var in the config.xml but with no luck.
The bigger the value (so the subs would play later - ie 7500) the faster they are displayed in the begining of the video... that is, always out of sync.
Everything works fine on the server.

Any tips?

My setup - GBPVR 2.13, mediamvp REV 1, dual p4 2.8 3gb

Thanks

You can add a negative figure for that e.g.: -5000
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Done that... same results. Sad

But i really don't understand it. A negative value should anticipate the subs, right? Positive values define the delay time in miliseconds. Correct?

I guess so.
I only remember I had to enter a negative value to get it right. But I never use them (mvp-subtitles) anymore.
I guess you'll have to wait for another answer.

Since you are using an avi file as a source I would expect problems like this no doubt there are subtle timing differences between the transcoded mpeg file and I am impressed that GBPVR support this at all.

You might want to transcode your file to mpeg2 before playing it and see if that helps. You might end up having to adjust the setting for every file though.

I remember I got it working quite well, I had to enter a value like: -6000 to get the subs start at the right time. Ofcourse there was always the hassle to get the right subs, 23.xxx or 25 or 29.xxx fps. Or if you couldn't find the right one, to convert it to the right format. It's a nice hassle to do, just to find out if you can get it right. But when I had done it a few times I got bored with it.
Plus the fact that by the time you had the subs right, you had seen half the movie.Sad
I guess I'm not a very fanatic movie man anyway.Smile

I guess i'm gonna stick with no subs then. Transcode all my video files is not an viable option for me.

Thanks guys.

If avi's are transcoded to mpeg2 in realtime before being sent to the MVP, shouldn't it be relatively easy to add the subtitles to the video at this point? That would remove the whole timing issue.

Someone with a greater understanding of the inner workings of GBPVR would make a lot of friends if he came up with a solution for this Smile
