Thoughts?

Did you notice that the 'Home Page' is just about as long as the left-hand menu bar, so reading one, draws you down the other - it kind of defines the scope of GBPVR on one page, plus it exposes the PayPal Donate button...

just my 2p worth of inane ramblings...

Not inane ramblings but good thoughts Smile

Yes I had already noticed this but am thinking about PM'ing Blader about this.

Did you notice that all the headings could be expanded, they are just bullet points after all with content revealed within. Does it need all of those details. All possible to be revealed after clicking on each point.?

Still room for ad's?

Not sure what you refreing to...

Initially when I created the wiki sidebar my goal was to have it as a table-of-contents, making each entry fit on a single line and fold it so that the full sidebar is visible in folded mode.

Most of the sections got entries listed in alphabetic order, e.g. the plugins, making it easy for me to find the plugin-page I was looking for. It also gave an overview of what plugins exists when you unfold the group (new ones came often). Today the goal is to just show the "known-to-work" plugins in the sidebar but that is not automatic yet (it depends on current pmwiki restrictions). There's also currently a layout restriction limiting the hierarchical depth to two in the sidebar.

One exception is the Manual, where the items are placed in linear order for a stretch-reading for newcomers. That way we can also easily get a decent printed manual.

Today things have evolved and a lot of people have contributed. I'm trying to explain my view and add tools for simplifying the maintenance of the wiki but I still allow all who wants to contribute the wiki.

I don't have a problem with that (but do wonder if I would have ever clicked on it :confusedSmile but then if I hadn't it would have been my own fault.

I think we need to have a think about the side bar as in the sub headings like "plugins..." it is a rather daunting list when it unravels after clicking on it..... there must be a way to sub categorize it a bit more??

Of course more can probably be moved to Unsupported.

Fatman do,

as always your POV most pleasurable, have now started new thread here:

as think it may be easier to track, perhaps :p

I seem to be thinking along similar lines as you.

Cheers

IMHO, the start is to remove plugins that is not known to work with the current version of GBPVR.

To make this automatic is on top of my todo-list for the wiki, but I have yet to find a working solution...
