Black Screen on Live Preview-QAM HD

What differences are there in live mode, verses timeshift mode? I assume they both use the same mux, decoders etc, but am not sure. I know time shift buffers to the hard drive, does live do any buffering?, if so where? What things can I change that may effect live mode playback?

There is no mux or buffering used for Live Preview. The data is sent straight from the tuner to the demux/decoders then to the video/audio renderers.

Thanks for everyones help. As an update, I now have it working great. Like most of my problems, if the answer is not straight forward, I usually solve it by a full reload. This time I did a complete fresh reformat and windows install and then only installed the things that I absolutely needed. I did not install all the codec packs, etc. I added AC3 and mpeg2dec filters manually and now have everything up like it should. Lesson learned, less is more.
