Patches question

Sub, when you release a patch, such as a new .dll or pvr2.exe, do you start the new patch with the last patched version? In other words, do your latest patch files contain all previous patches, or do you put out a seperate patch for individual issues? And if it is the former, is there some place where we can get the LATEST patch files? If the latter, boy, that's going to be a bear to figure out, which patch we WANT or NEED!

No - I didn't mean version, I meang ISSUE or PROBLEM. I see patches posted for DVD playback issues, rendering issues (all for the same version). Is there an all-inclusive patch that addresses all issues with a particular version?

There are different files involved as well. If a specific file is patched then any further patches for that file will include earlier ones.

The safest thing to do is look at the survival guide for the version you are running where all important, verified patches will be mentioned.

Some patches you see elsewhere may well be "try this to see if it fixes it" and until it does and has no other repercusions it won't get to the survival guide.

I only maintain a single version of GB-PVR. After a release, if I fix "Bug A" in PVRX2.exe and post a patch, the later fix "Bug B" in PVRX2.exe and post a patch, then that later version of PVRX2.exe will also include the fix for the earlier "Bug A" in the same. The next release will also contain these patches.

In general, the only patches I consider important for the majority of users are those posted in the survival guide thread. As long as you've applied them in the order posted in the survival guide thread, then you're safe.
