System picking a tuner issue

OK - I have only set up one QAM and one Analog tuner. If I have been watching a show on QAM, and have a QAM recording that starts, it exits from LiveTV (probably because it only has one QAM tuner) but shouldn't it change to the recording channel? Problem now, when I try to fire up LiveTV, it tries to open back to the QAM channel I was watching, and it won't open.

What is it SUPPOSED to do here? I would think, change to the show that is recording.

I'm pretty sure it's working as designed. I've never used up all my tuners so I'm not quite sure.

There is a lot of complicated rules (with trying to move recordings to other tuners if its already in use for live tv etc), but in general it'll kick you out of live tv if it needs the tuner to perform a recording (and cant find another tuner for the recording).

OK - question (or feature suggestion) - on my cable PVR, if I'm watching a show, and I have recording coming up that will take both tuners, it just flips to one of the recording shows. If I then try to change channels, it only offers to change to one of the shows currently recording.

At any rate, why can't I watch a live show that is currently being recorded? That seems like basic functionality.

Along another thought, I can't even get LiveTV to come up now, and cannot do a repair install, at the very end says it ended prematurely due to an error, then rolls back. Not sure what happened, but I'm to the point I'm going to start over from scratch, including reinstalling WinXP, just to get rid of some of the codecs I have experimented with.

GB-PVR doesnt do that. It'll just drop you out of live tv (since it need to stop the graph in PVRX2.exe and give GBPVRRecordingService.exe access to the tuner).

Usually you could. If all tuners are in use and you try to use live tv, it'll pop up a box asking you which of the current recordings you'd like to watch. If its not doing this for you, or failing when you try to select one, then reproduce the problem and post the logs and I'll take a look. (if you're not using the blue skin, try switch to that first to confirm problem still exists)

I'm not sure why you tried to do a repair install - I never trust that option with MSI installers, and wouldnt recommend it to any GB-PVR users trying to fix problems.

Ok - I'll try a clean install of GBPVR and go from there. I am not using ANY plugins/skins/utils that aren't in the install package until I get this thing working as it should!
