hauppage hvr-850

I just installed an HVR-850 today and I am having difficulty getting it configured.

After reading several posts, I added the following to the bda.ini

I tried digital mapping after selecting each of these and got the no device found message. I ran filter check and it said it found an HVR-950. I tried to set it as an HVR-950 and run digital mapping also with no success.

The filter check log is attached.

In config, hvr-850 must be identified as a digital, I guess because of bda.ini. If you try analog, hvr-850 is not available and picking a different analog card gives a message that the drivers have not been installed.

I am using a cable feed without the box. Just line in. I am still unable to find any channels with GBPVR using either 850 or 950 settings. However, in WinTV, I can identify hvr-850 as analog and it finds all the basic channels (1-70, 95-99). Are there settings for bda.ini so hvr-850 can be configured as analog?

Also, I noticed someone in one board set up bda.ini settings for a Hauppage 1950 and also set up Hauppage 1950 settings for direct.ini. Is that something that should be done for hvr-850?

Sorry this device lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder, so isnt usable in GB-PVR for analog channels.

You can use it for ATSC/QAM channels, but if you're unable to find any of these digital channels in WinTV then there is a good chance GB-PVR also wont be able to find them.

I am trying to get a replacement for yapixml and I want to test on my laptop so I don't overwrite what's left of my existing xml file.
I have everything done except for the configuration of hvr-850. Would that affect the xml file from loading in the TV Guide?
I am trying m2xml and the file is about 33% bigger than yapixml. PVRX2 locks up trying to show the guide. Would that be related to not having the hvr-850 completely installed?

If you dont have any enabled channels, this can cause the app to lock up showing the TV Guide. Digital capture sources will automatically disable any channel that has not been mapped.

If you're just wanting to test the TV Guide, just create an analog capture source and set it as any device in the list. It'll give you a warning, but wont cause any problems unless you tried to record or watch live tv.
