I'd like to see a maximum disk usage parameter. This would prevent systems like mine with only one partition from becoming totally full and unresponsive.

Why not get a bigger, separate drive for recordings? Or tidy up more often?

Good suggestions. My TVPC at the moment is an IBM Thinkcentre S50 (because I already had it and use it for other things too) and I am just experimenting right now. It isn't really the best choice fo a HTPC but it works OK for SDTV. I'm not yet to the point where I want to invest in a bigger hard drive. And partitioning the existing one would leave even less for videos. But if I decide that it is here to stay, I'll replace the hard drive with a much bigger one.

It just seems like a logical feature so the system doesn't grind to a halt.

This utility my help you out. It deletes the oldest recording when the hd reaches a predetermined level.

I had a look at it but have not tried it yet. I have since upgraded and partitioned my HD and have a lot more space for recordings. But it is probably still possible to fill the drive if, for example, I am away for a while.

The question is.... the utility seems to delete from only one folder. Since GB-PVR creates a folder for each program group, that would seem to prevent the utility from deleting the oldest program in ANY folder? Or is the description a bit mis-leading and it monitors the specified folder and any sub-folders?

Or use the built-in "keep" facility for series shows. This can be set to keep the most recent xx episodes and start deleting the older ones.
If you want to specifically keep an episode you can set it so.

Paul

It Monitors the specified folder and sub folders. I have been using it for awhile and it works great. I don't remember the last time I manually deleted a recording.
