It says in the wiki: "If you install a digital TV card, select a mux other than the DVR-MS on the Misc2 tab “BDA Multiplexer”

Does this mean that my current dvr-ms method of recording my QAM channels will not be compatible with the popcornhour? I'm real happy with DVR-MS and I would hate to change to .ts (with all it's time indexing problems I've heard about and seen for myself too).

Second question:
It says in the wiki: "Once mvpmcx2 is setup properly every time you power up your PCH from the plug you will need to run the Telnet option in telnet.html to initialize mvpmcx2"

Does that mean I have to telnet every time I power up the PH?

I'm thinking about ordering one of these devices and wanted to know what I was in for.

Thanks!

Correct, the popcorn hour cannot play .dvr-ms files. You'd need to use another mux option.

No. You just start it by a few button clicks on the remote. You dont need to telnet into it and type commands etc.

Hi,

Could you give me some details about telnet, please?

(I've a shared network with my neighbour. I don't want to open an paswordless telnet server with root privileges on my PCH)

I'm using the following gbpvr script (modified by me.)
I call it from an index.htm file's header with http-equiv="refresh" option (1 sec) witch is automatily loaded from a selected directory. (fox ex: 'DBV-T' smb share )

Code:
#!/bin/sh
echo "Content-Length: 29";
echo "Content-type: text/html";
echo "";

cd ~
if ! test -d /etc/mvpmc
then
    mkdir /etc/mvpmc
    mount -t cifs //ip.ip.ip.ip/MPVMC /etc/mvpmc/ -o username=guest,ro;
    echo "/etc/mvpc mounted sucessfully"
fi

if ! test -f /lib/libjpeg.so.62
then
ln -s /lib/librmjpeg.so /lib/libjpeg.so.62
ln -s /lib/librmzlib.so /lib/libz.so
ln -s /lib/librmzlib.so /lib/libz.so.1
ln -s /lib/librmzlib.so /lib/libz.so.123
fi

killall gaya
sh -c /etc/mvpmc/startmeup 2>/dev/null >/dev/null &
exit 0;

I can watch LiveTV with channel changing.

My problems are:
The buffer file growing and growing...
(Why?)

The size is cca. 1.6-2 GB when the followng error occuerd

(After a half an hour) I get a black screen and I can see in the logs the the following:

Code:
2009-01-05 14:57:45.069 VERBOSE [7] Received request to stop livetv: 1
2009-01-05 14:57:45.069 VERBOSE [7] Stopping live tv recording...
2009-01-05 14:57:45.069 VERBOSE [7] Stopping recording oid:1

Thanks.

I'm not sure what your question is. As you found telnet isn't required to run mvpmcx2 it is enabled for debugging purposes only. The log snippet shows a handled exit from the nmt video player which I can't do anything about. and without the full logs I can't explain the black screen.

1-2 GB for 1/2 isn't bad, HD could easily be much more. GBPVR doesn't stream directly a temp. file is created. This would work much better if the PCH had a rewind, but it still allows pausing livetv.
