Not sure anymore if this is a new issue in 1.3.11 (i think it also happened in 1.3.7). This is the problem: the PC wakes up before the recording. the wakeup script will restart my USB tuners (because they have a tendency to not wake up properly). then if i test the signal on channel X with an app like WatchHDTV it's perfect. Same if i test it just after the recording is done. But when i look at the recorded video file it's full of skips - as much as to make it useless. This is not a constant issue. it could be days until it happens again or it could be every recording for a few days. My PC is in stand by for about a month before i do a reboot.

i use setting <BDAUsePsiParser>false</BDAUsePsiParser> in config.xml to avoid zero length files.

My TV is connected to the same antenna and sometimes i watch a program live at the same time it's being recorded (and it's fine on the TV but skipping on the recording)

Any suggestions are appreciated.

It does sound like something screwy happening with your device or its drivers.

If you set your PC not to hibernate/standby for a few days, does the problem go away?

i have not tried that yet. the other thing - it's a brand new install of 1.3.11. i completely removed the old one including the DB, rescheduled everything manually and imported the recordings and copied over some of the config.xml settings.

OK i don't think it's from GBPVR. i just reproduced it by accident with WatchHDTV. a car passed by and then the live image was skipping all the time but signal strength was OK. after switching to another channel and back it worked fine.

quite odd because this usually does not happen. any ideas what i could do to fix it? the tuner is HVR 950 from Happauge.

i don't want to impose but i looked at some of the logs of the recordings which are skipping from the beginning and the signal strength is OK. even more than that i did stop a broken recording midway (restart service) and the second part was crystal clear all the way while the first part was skipping... the issue is happening for a single recording or for multiple recordings at the same time. here's the log of one of the attempts.

any help appreciated...

I stopped using standby (that did not help), then i got the newest PsiParser patches, updated the HVR 950 tuner drivers and set/added these options in config.xml as seen in other threads:

Quote:
<BDADisableStatusChecks>false</BDADisableStatusChecks>
<BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording>1</BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording>

recordings are looking good for now but i'm still waiting for a few days before i declare the issue solved.

it's been more than a week now and i think/hope reinstalling the drivers fixed the issue. it's possible that the patches and the BDACheckSignalStatusDuringRecording also helped, i'll keep it enabled.

i've seen very few skips in recordings and absolutely no completely messed up recordings anymore.
