I know it's not one of the recommended or supported tuners but...I bought this one to revive my old system and add HD. I have an old P4 3.0 with a crappy Soyo Mobo and 2 Gigs of ram. In order to get some decent recordings and playback with HD I upgraded the video card to a Radeon HD 3650 (AGP) and this tuner with hardware encoding (it's quite a good tuner). That actually worked, and the system can now handle HD recording and playback by unloading some of the work onto the upgraded cards, but I'd REALLY like to be able to use GBPVR.

Based on a previous thread (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=39943) the analog side is up and running fine. After reading through as many threads as I could, I tried to update the DBA.INI file with following:

[ASUS PHC3-100 (ATSC)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=ASUS PHC3-100 ATSC/QAM Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=ASUS PHC3-100 Digital TV Receiver
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

[ASUS PHC3-100 (QAM)]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
TUNING_SPECIAL=2
FILTER_TUNER=ASUS PHC3-100 ATSC/QAM Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=ASUS PHC3-100 Digital TV Receiver
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

GBPVR now recognizes the hardware, but will not tune any HD stations (using either the ATSC or QAM. The tuner works great with the (crappy) software that comes with the card (including picking up all QAM and ATSC signals), but GBPVR will not recognize the same channels. At one point, while using the bundled software and watching QAM, GBPVR recognized the frequencies during a scan, but then showed "WEAK OR NO SIGNAL" when I tried to watch them after closing the other program (I since tried uninstalling the bundled software as well).

Also, when I run the Tuning Assistant it seems to recognize some of the ATSC channels, but they don't show up when trying to configure the tuner.

I've attached the FILTERCHECK log and latest CONFIG log and can attach any others that might be helpful.

Thanks,
Chris

Can you do an ATSC scan then zip and attach your config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log?

From the looks of it, the tuner does not seem to be responding to the channel change request from GBPVR (signal and quality values never change) but I'm not sure why that would be. Is there some process from the bundled application running in the background by any chance?

I've uninstalled and/or killed any application that might be trying to access the card (other than GB-PVR) and still no luck. Would the tuning assistant be able to access the tuner even if another application had it tied up?

Try downloading the QAM.ini manager from http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=38408 and try a scan using the "Default with frequencies" and "Center frequencies" settings.

The QAM.ini manager couldn't find a signal (I don't think it was ever actively using the digital tuner).

Thanks for the suggestion but nothing seems to be able to access the digital tuner other than the bundled software (I running WinXP and don't have MCE - which supposedly works fine with this card). Perhaps I'm too much of a noob to get this thing working. It's too bad because the card itself is quite good.

Any more suggestions on what I might be missing? I'm willing to try ANYTHING at this point.

Do you actually have the QAM device selected? The logs attached above show it scanning 2-69, so you have the ATSC device selected in the capture source at that time.
