Everything is working fine except the ghosting trails on any movements on live tv and recordings.
I have a Hauppauge usb pvr2 and have upated the Hauppauge drivers. Through WinTv 7 the picture quality is excellent, but through GBPVR Live Tv there is ghosting on movements.

Also i can only get picture when configured for VMR9 full screen. EVR does not display at all. However in WinTv7 i get best picture with EVR.

Any suggestions? ... has it anything to do with drivers?

Thanks

What does playback of a recording with VLC and Media Player look like?
(VLC has its own codecs and WMP uses Widows own AFAIR).
This will determine whether it is a tuner/record problem or a player problem.

This is usually a problem with the noise reduction feature of your video card. Try either disabling it, or reducing the level of noise reduction. You may also want to double check that your TV isn't attempting to do noise reduction.

The trails can be seen in Windows Media player as well. I dont have VLC to try it.
I am using an MSI Nvidia 9600gt and a Sony KLV40s400a... Tv is connected to graphics adaptor through DVI to HDMI cable.... The pc is a Quad core 2.4Ghz, 1 gig ram, sata 400 gig, win xp pro SP3

As mentioned the pic quality is fine with WinTv 7 ...
WinTv 6 had the same ghosting problems.
In GBPVR i cannot use EVR or DVR9 custom -- nothing displayed in Live Tv. Only DVR9 full screen works.
However in winTv7 i use EVR and get the best picture quality.

How does GBPVR playback the already hardware compressed mpeg2 video that comes from the Hauppauge USB pvr2 (built in hardware compression)? Does it save this mpeg2 data straight to disk or does it decompress and compress again?
Maybe this is where we need to look?
Can custom decoders be used?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The data is saved straight from the mpeg stream delivered by your device.
You can use a bunch of different decoders. What mpeg decoder are you currently using?

I am currently using the GBPVR built in Intervideo Non CSS Video decoder for Hauppauge.
I only have this one, system default and MPEG video decoder as options.
It has the best quality of the 3 options.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
