I sat to watch the superbowl with my friends, and they were thoroughly impressed with GBPVR--however, they felt that the video (though clearer) was a little choppy during fast action plays. In other words, they wanted to watch it on regular TV. (I'm running the computer to my TV)

is this unique to GBPVR or are PVR s in general not very hot when it comes to fast action??

I don't know what capture card you are using, but if it's running in software decoding mode, it does seem choppier with fast moving subjects.  On my Hauppauge 350, the software mode that is output with my videocard looks good, although a little soft normally, but with fast moving subjects, looks either choppy, or somewhat blurry or like it's skipping frames.  With the hardware output via the 350 with hardware decoding, it looks just as good as "real TV" to me.

You can try upping your Live TV bitrate and see if that helps.  This doesn't really have anything to do with GB-PVR, all PVR software is going to behave pretty similiarily from what I've seen, it's mainly the limitations or capabilities of your capture card.

i have the pvr-150 and the pvr-usb2 .... I thought the usb2 is a hardware decoder system... Is there a way to get it to be the 'default' mode by which i watch the shows, and reserve the second tuner in case i want to record?

ydekmekji,

Sorry for the long delay, I had surgery Monday and have been away from the computer for a couple of days.  I'm not completely positive, but I checked Hauppauge's site and I don't think the USB2 has a hardware decoder, just a hardware encoder.

As far as the multiple encoders, I'm not really sure, you may want to search or start a new thread on the topic, I only have a single 350 and do not have multiple encoders.  I would assume you could setup a specific card to record and the other to watch live tv.  You may be able to find some info at this site also, it has quite a bit of info:
